Date: 4th May 2023
Description: The role, positioning and protection of whistle-blowers has been a major consideration for businesses of all kinds, with some of history’s major financial scandals coming to light through the brave actions of individuals, often in the face of strident opposition from their employers. Protect, a prominent British charity, has been at the forefront of whistle-blower protection and empowerment and this year will celebrate its 25th anniversary, just as the UK government undertakes a review of related legislation, with a view to meeting the greater standards of whistle-blower protection implied by existing EU law.
Karen Jordan has served on Protect’s board for five years and chairs the organisations Audit and Risk Committee. A seasoned governance and regulatory professional with a 25-year career behind her in risk and compliance roles for major financial institutions including State Street and Barclays plc, Karen will co-host this breakfast discussion event alongside Halsey Keetch and will provide an update on Protect’s recent activities, anniversary plans, and input into pending legislative changes, plus her own opinions on these important matters. We are hosting this intimate and impactful event at The Don Restaurant, newly renovated and reopened as of early 2023, and still located on St. Swithin’s Lane, between Cannon Street and King William Street. This is to be one of the first in a series of events commemorating our 8th anniversary as Halsey Keetch and our 35th in the City over the coming months, and we would be delighted to see you there. All our events are designed to be inclusive and high-quality, with a chaired conversation taking place between a small number of guests over a seated breakfast. We offer places on a first-come, first-served basis, and given the size and format of our events, would kindly ask that if you do request a place, you commit to attending, in order for the event to be truly successful.
